Our committed legal professional is well-versed in matters of Texas family law. Dedicated Texas attorney advocates for the best interests of children
To ensure a secure future for your children after a divorce, our attorney at Stagg and Associates, PLLC provides caring legal counsel and advocacy. We can help you with matters including:
Child support — Our attorney will seek an arrangement in which you receive or pay an equitable amount of the financial support required to raise your children in a healthy, happy environment.
Child custody and visitation — We advocate for parenting time to be divided in a way that grants a child stability and safety. We assert our clients' parental rights to make decisions about how children are raised.
Adoption — We assist clients who seek to add children to their families through adoption. Our attorney handles the legalities of this sometimes frustrating process so that you can concentrate on preparing for your new family member.
Juvenile delinquency — If your child ends up in trouble with the law, their future and your parenting rights may be threatened. We can advise you on how to handle delinquency issues.
In all of these matters, we provide knowledgeable counsel at each step to protect your children’s welfare and your rights as a parent.
Focused counselor handles divorce, alimony and property division matters
Our attorney helps clients to end their marriage with as little stress as possible, but when disagreements can’t be resolved, we won’t hesitate to press your rights in court. Whether your breakup is contested or amicable, we provide comprehensive support for:
Divorce — We guide you through the divorce process so that your rights are protected and you can move forward with confidence.
Spousal support — So that divorce doesn’t unnecessarily disadvantage one party, we help you seek the best possible settlement or judgment for spousal support payments, whether you must pay alimony or will receive it.
Property division — We will advocate for a fair allocation of your marital estate and debt, ensuring the court has a full financial accounting.
Prenuptial and postnuptial agreements — We draft and review comprehensive prenuptial and postnuptial agreements that protect your interests and can alleviate some of the stress and uncertainty should you ever divorce.
You may find that mediation helps you and your partner to achieve amicable agreements about issues involving your children, property and finances. If mediation proves unproductive, however, our lawyer is a skilled litigator who will advocate for your best interests in court.

The legal representation you choose will play an important role in shaping the terms of your divorce, adoption or other family law matter. Call Stagg and Associates, PLLC at 713-405-7402 or contact us online to schedule a consultation with our family law attorney at our Houston office.
Divorce is never easy, even when both partners agree that it's the right decision. The dissolution of a marriage involves crucial decisions about how your shared property will be divided and how your children will be cared for. At Stagg and Associates, PLLC, our lawyer aims to help clients in the Houston area and throughout Texas to get through their divorces without added stress or difficulty. Our knowledge of Texas laws and practices enables us to provide advice on all aspects of divorce, and to address any questions or concerns you may have.
Committed advocate strives for fair support and property arrangements
The attorney at Stagg and Associates, PLLC will work to develop the best possible solutions for all aspects of your divorce, which may include:
Child custody and visitation — Court orders determine where your child will live, how parenting time will be split and to what degree each parent gets to make decisions about their child's life. We will work to ensure your parental rights are protected while advocating for your children’s welfare.
Child support — A number of factors are used to calculate child support payments, from each parent's income to each child's particular needs. We will seek an order that’s fair to all parties.
Distribution of property — The division of your home and other assets often depends on whether property is owned by a couple or by just one spouse. We will help you seek a fair division of the marital estate.
Division of marital debts — Both spouses may be accountable for debts accrued by the couple, or one partner may be found to be more responsible.
Spousal support and temporary support — Whether you seek spousal support, also known as alimony, on a permanent or temporary basis, or must pay it, our attorneys will seek a fair determination so that divorce doesn’t leave you financially strapped.
With commitment and conviction, we argue for fair arrangements, always keeping in mind your best interests and those of your children.
Effective family lawyer handles mediation and litigation
The course that your divorce takes will depend on your circumstances. Most couples will first try to work things out in mediation rather than opting to let a judge decide the terms of their divorce. Mediation gives you and your spouse the opportunity to negotiate a divorce settlement in a structured setting through a trained facilitator, in a process that fosters cooperation and removes the unpredictability and uncertainty of litigation. It also often reduces the time and cost of divorce, and puts the decisions in your hands.
If litigation is necessary to reach just and equitable resolutions to alimony, custody and other matters, our skilled litigator is prepared to advocate on your behalf in court in pursuit of the most favorable outcome.

Raising a child involves all types of expenses, both predictable and unexpected. Children are entitled to financial support from both parents, whether parents are married or not, but if too heavy a burden is placed on one parent, the child will be the one to suffer. The attorney at Stagg and Associates, PLLC strives to negotiate and enforce fair child support arrangements. We help clients in Texas to demonstrate the needs of their children as well as each parent’s financial ability. Our priority is to reach a fair agreement that protects your rights and helps your child to grow up safely and securely.
Dedicated counselor helps parents reach fair child support arrangements
At Stagg and Associates, PLLC, our skilled attorney is experienced in all family law matters, including child support. Drawing on our experience and knowledge of case law, we help parents:
Negotiate child support through mediation
Litigate child support issues
Enforce child support orders
Modify child support orders
We will thoroughly explain Texas child support guidelines and how they apply to you. We aim to keep our clients informed and empowered throughout the legal process, so that they know their rights and those of their children.
Skilled mediator strives for amicable child support settlements
Children fare best when their parents can be cordial and respectful of one another. Through the structured process of mediation, parents can often put aside their differences and focus on a topic on which they tend to agree — the importance of their child’s well-being. Mediation presents a forum for creating fair child support plans that allow both parents to share in the financial obligations of raising their children. Our skilled negotiator can guide the process toward equitable solutions that often save time and expense.
Committed attorney goes to court on behalf of parents and children
In some cases, litigation is necessary for your child to receive fair financial support from both parents. Our attorney carefully prepares for litigation to achieve an equitable arrangement for your child. In addition, if your spouse has fallen behind on child support payments, you may need assistance to collect the money that rightfully belongs to your child. And when financial problems or the changing needs of your children alter your circumstances, we can petition the court for a modification to the child support order.
Contact an experienced Texas family law firm for help with a child support issue
If you need help with seeking, negotiating or enforcing a fair child support order, enlisting a trusted family law attorney can increase your odds of achieving the best possible outcome. Call Stagg and Associates, PLLC at 713-405-7402 or contact us online to schedule a consultation at our Houston office.
If you are at odds with your child’s other parent about where your child should live, how much time they should spend with each parent or how they should be raised, it is essential to seek the advice of a qualified family law attorney. The counselor at Stagg and Associates, PLLC can present your case and advocate for your rights to raise your child in a healthy, thriving environment. We represent parents in Texas child custody disputes in the Houston area and throughout Texas. Above all else, our law firm is committed to protecting your child’s best interests while upholding your parental bond.
Strategic mediator works for fair parenting time agreements
Children are best served when parents maintain a cordial relationship. Through the structured process of mediation, couples can often set aside hostility and agree on key decisions affecting their children. Mediation can be a highly effective tool for parents to preserve their children’s well-being and the stability of their lives during the turbulent process of divorce: it takes some of the stress out of child custody conflicts and puts important child-rearing decisions in the hands of the parents rather than the court. Our attorney uses mediation strategies to guide the negotiation process toward a healthy resolution.
Skilled litigator represents parents in family court
In some cases, litigation is necessary to protect a child’s best interests. When one parent will not compromise or expresses hostility toward the other parent, negotiations fail. Sometimes a parent may even pose a danger to the child’s well-being. In these cases, litigation is the most appropriate forum for establishing parental rights. Our firm’s methodical approach to litigation enables our clients to feel confident that their children are protected and their parental rights are secure. The attorney at Stagg and Associates, PLLC represents clients in matters related to:
Primary and joint custody arrangements
Visitation rights
Grandparent visitation
Modification of custody and visitation orders
Enforcement of orders
Juvenile delinquency and dependency proceedings
Decisions related to religion, education and upbringing of the child
The uncertainty of litigation can be stressful for parents and children alike. As your committed representative, we are prepared to address all of your concerns and those of your family in cases involving the custody of your children.

Failing to arrange your affairs in advance can lead to negative consequences for the people you love. At Stagg and Associates, PLLC in Houston, our firm assists clients throughout Southeast Texas with the preparation of wills and other estate planning matters. We are skilled at developing documents that reflect clients’ needs and wishes. Since 2002, our team has employed a broad and nuanced perspective to achieve clients’ goals, and we are comfortable structuring and evaluating estates of all sizes. Our attorney will thoroughly examine your situation and determine which solutions best address your concerns.
What do you need to create a valid will?
A well-drafted will is the backbone of a good estate plan and key to maintaining control over property. In Texas, a will is valid only if:
The person creating the will (the testator) has the legal capacity to execute a binding legal document
The testator is of sound mind
The testator intends to record how their property will be distributed upon death
In the case of a handwritten will, the document is in the testator’s handwriting and signed by him or her.
In the case of a typed will, the document is signed in front of two witnesses, who are also required to sign.
Our attorney knows the right questions to ask and will work to ensure your last testament holds up in court.
Why is it so important to keep your will updated?
A will can only be effective if it accurately reflects the testator’s intentions. Big life changes, such as marriage, divorce or birth, can dramatically shift what is appropriate and possible and should trigger an immediate discussion about potential revisions. In addition, regular reviews of your will should also be conducted to verify the provisions remain valid and reflect your current wishes. Our attorney is highly skilled at creating enforceable and effective wills and will perform a detailed analysis of your documents.
What is the purpose of a guardian?
The testator’s wishes for who should be appointed as guardian of their minor child/children can be addressed in a document that accompanies the will. A guardian will be able to legally make decisions regarding the child’s upbringing the same way their parent would have. Guardianship issues are often complicated and emotional, and our firm will look for the best solution.
How can optimizing your estate plan help you reach your goals?
Well-crafted estate plans evolve with you and are constructed to fulfill your objectives just as you intended. This may involve additional documents, such as establishing trusts, establishing powers of attorney and healthcare directives or engaging in strategic gift giving. Determining the right approach starts with outlining your goals, and then implementing the methods most likely to achieve them. Our attorney will take the time to fully understand your objectives and offer proven strategies to support your intentions.

An auto accident can negatively impact your job, your family, your health and your quality of life. Even an apparently minor collision may result in serious injuries. If you have been hurt because someone was negligent, our attorney can help you seek compensation for your injuries, including pain and suffering, past and future medical bills, and lost income. Dedicated advocate represents clients injured in a range of car accidents
The financial costs of an accident can take a heavy toll on its victims. Our lawyer’s knowledge of Texas statutes and case law enables us to confidently seek the compensation you deserve. At Stagg and Associates, PLLC, we represent clients involved in accidents caused by:
Distracted driving —Drivers who fail to pay attention to the road put others in danger. Texting, talking on a cellphone or using a GPS are just some of the distractions that can lead to accidents.
Reckless driving — Excessive speeding or failing to follow other traffic rules can result in devastating collisions. We examine police reports and witness testimony to substantiate your claim.
Drunk driving — There is no excuse for taking the wheel when impaired by alcohol. Our attorney goes after drunk drivers who put others’ lives at risk.
Weather conditions— Rain, snow and other weather conditions create challenges for drivers and can affect the functionality of cars. When weather is a factor in an accident, we work to show how much of the accident was a driver’s fault and how much was unavoidable.
Defective auto parts— Automakers who fail to alert their customers to defects can be held liable for their negligence. Similarly, if a driver doesn’t attempt to remedy a known problem with their vehicle, they may face repercussions when they become involved in an accident.
Our lawyer is known as a skilled and trustworthy advocate for auto accident victims and will support you throughout the legal process.
Responsive lawyer handles insurance claims and disputes
When you file a claim with an insurance company, getting the monetary compensation you deserve can be time-consuming and stressful. Insurers, their adjusters and their attorneys try to pay the minimum amount of accident compensation possible, but we help our clients to prepare strong claims and we challenge insurers who attempt to deny them. To establish liability for the accident and substantiate the severity of your injuries, we may bring in experts in various fields, from trauma doctors to collision reconstruction analysts.
It is important to speak to an attorney immediately following an auto accident to ensure the preservation of crucial evidence and witness recollection. In addition, Texas law places time limits on filing an automobile accident claim. Our lawyer is committed to the timely investigation of your claim.

Respected Texas lawyer represents clients in negotiations and court
Our experience and knowledge of applicable laws and past rulings allow us to seek favorable settlements and to have cases dropped when complaints are weak or baseless. Our attorney is capable of helping clients to overcome a wide range of legal challenges.
Common forms of civil law conflicts include those related to:
Business litigation
Breach of contracts
Property damage
Personal injury claims
Divorce
Insurance claims
Construction litigation
Consumer litigation
Products liability
Product defects
Torts
Landlord-tenant issues
Medical malpractice
Employment disputes
Most civil disputes settle out of court, either with the case being dropped or with both parties agreeing to terms for fair monetary compensation or other forms of legal remedy. But when settlements cannot be reached at the negotiating table, you can depend on our strong advocacy and courtroom skill to litigate your case with confidence.
Committed advocates help clients navigate the legal process
We understand that filing a lawsuit or being served by another party is a daunting experience. Our firm will provide responsive support from the moment we take your case until the close of our services. We will represent your interests through every stage of your case, which may include:
Investigation
Pleadings
Discovery
Pre-trial proceedings
Settlement or trial
Appeal
Most lawsuits don't involve all of these stages; many are settled before ever reaching the courtroom. If settling your case early on will achieve the best result, we will explain why we believe it is better to settle than pursue litigation. When finding an amicable resolution is not possible, however, our attorney has the skill and in-depth legal knowledge to represent you with confidence and conviction in court. We are committed to representing our clients’ best interests at every turn.
